CLOSURE OF THE WORKER REGISTRATION SCHEME

20/04/2011

In 2004, the Government introduced the Worker Registration Scheme to monitor the flow of workers from the A8 countries into the United Kingdom, and required workers to register under the Scheme within one month of starting work. It was recently announced that this Scheme will close on 30th April 2011.

This means that, from 1st May 2011, workers from the A8 countries (Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia) will no longer have to register and will be able to access the labour market in the same way as workers from other EU countries. However, workers from Romania and Bulgaria are still subject to their current restrictions.

If you are a worker who may be affected by these changes, you may have some questions - please feel free to contact Jo Shires, HR and Compliance Manager via our careers e-mail: careers@conceptrecruitment.com
